Selene One was founded and is led by Raj Mody MA FIA CAct, who has over 30 years experience at senior levels of professional services. He is a Chartered Actuary and spent two decades as a senior partner in one of the “big 4” firms.
He built and delivered his own professional practice client portfolio, mainly in the FTSE250 and Fortune 500 segments. He also led and developed a number of businesses in the UK and globally, both businesses with established revenue streams requiring transformation and growth, along with start-up enterprises. His experience spans conventional advisory services as well as technology and managed services. This included setting up and running a technology joint venture which specialised in data analytics.
He has served as a judge for multiple trade industry award events which recognise excellence. He has carried out dozens of Independent Senior Partner Reviews for teams either winning or losing proposals. He is accustomed to being on the receiving end of proposals pitches and understands, from both sides of these processes, how to improve impact.
Raj was a panel interviewer for new Partner promotions, and also chaired client review panels tackling complex commercial, ethical and strategic situations.
He has held a private pilot’s licence for over 25 years and has long since been fascinated by how the aviation industry deals with issues such as safety, regulation and adventure and what the professional services industry could learn from that.
Raj is an experienced public speaker and commentator, having been frequently cited across national print and broadcast media, such the Financial Times, Economist, BBC and Sky.
He has an MA (first class) in Mathematics from the University of Oxford, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Raj has invested continually is his own personal development during his career and has enjoyed the pleasure of studying at Harvard Business School (Leading Professional Services Firms), IMD (High-Performance Leadership) and INSEAD (M&A and Corporate Strategy).
He is a Trustee of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, an Independent Member of the Investment Committee and Finance Committee of the Royal British Legion, Board Adviser to Raindrop, and a Freeman of the City of London.
